The Star Inn The Harbour was opened in June 2017 and is the second Brasserie-style restaurant operated by 'local lad', Andrew Pern; the first being The Star Inn The City in York. Andrew's name is synonymous with that of his Michelin-starred restaurant, The Star Inn at Harome. Whilst the new Whitby restaurant will have a more relaxed style and offer traditional battered fish and chips with puddings from its 'seaside' Ice Cream Parlour, it will benefit from many of the same suppliers and offer the best seasonal seafood, local meats and game.

The interior features the work of local craftsmen and artists, whilst the views towards the Abbey and St Marys on East Cliff are unrivalled.

The new restaurant aims to offer an all year around celebration destination, perfect for family birthdays, anniversaries, graduations and meals with friends. Situated directly opposite Whitby Railway Station with its connections to Middlesborough via the Esk Valley Railway and Pickering via the North Yorkshire Moors Railway, there are additional public transport options with buses to Scarborough, Middlesborough and Leeds/York (via Malton) on the Coastliner bus. For those travelling by car, parking is available at Pickering Railway Station and in the public carpark behind the Restaurant.
